Digital Accessibility Implementation Report for zenwave.design

Digital accessibility becomes mandatory for many companies in the European Union, including in Poland, starting from June 28, 2025, in connection with the implementation of the European Accessibility Act (EAA). Companies employing more than 10 people or with an annual turnover exceeding 2 million euros are required to adapt their websites and mobile applications to WCAG 2.2 standards at level AA.

Implementation Declaration

As part of the modernization and development of the zenwave.design website, we commit to the real-time implementation of all necessary changes regarding accessibility, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2019/882 of the European Parliament and of the Council.

The website has undergone an internal audit and tests using automated tools (e.g., WAVE, Axe), and detected issues were corrected on an ongoing basis. The current version of the site has passed automated tests without contrast errors, missing labels, incorrect heading structure, or elements lacking accessibility descriptions.

Implemented Accessibility Enhancements

✅ Implementation of aria-label, role, and tabindex attributes for navigation elements, language switchers, and interactive components.

✅ Full keyboard accessibility in all key areas of the site – menu, galleries, language navigation – with full support for TAB key navigation.

✅ Application of appropriate contrasts compliant with WCAG (minimum 4.5:1 for text and active elements).

✅ Addition of alternative alt text for all informational graphics and flags in the language switcher.

✅ Distinction between functional icons (e.g., close, expand, navigation) and decorative icons, which are ignored by screen readers.

✅ Visible focus outlines added for users navigating the site via keyboard.

✅ Gallery accessibility – navigation arrows and close buttons are keyboard accessible and labeled with aria-label.

✅ Use of rem units instead of px in styles – ensuring better interface scalability based on individual user settings (e.g., increased font size).

✅ Responsiveness: the entire site, including image galleries, menu, and language navigation, is fully responsive and optimized for mobile screens.

Language Versions

The website is available in three language versions: Polish (PL), German (DE), and English (ENG). The language switcher has been adapted to accessibility standards.

aria-label has been applied to all language options (PL, DE, ENG).

✅ Flag icons are described with alternative text (alt).

✅ The language switcher can be operated using the keyboard (elements with role="button", tabindex="0", dropdown arrow, close button).

Summary

The zenwave.design website has been adapted to meet the current requirements of the EAA and WCAG 2.2 AA. All new functionalities, updates, and future developments will be implemented with digital accessibility in mind.

The implementations were carried out by the development team using coding standards and JavaScript techniques that support digital accessibility – with consideration for all users, including those with disabilities.
